If you're considering an art school, then you've encountered "the assignment": a test of an applicant's ability to turn a written prompt into a visual solution. This course, a rehearsal for that assignment, allows you to stretch your conceptual muscles and receive valuable criticism about the solution you render. The instructor, a RISD alum, will lead you through the generative process of creation that could be a drawing, painting or sculpture (perhaps all three), and will help lead you to the best visual representation of a written prompt. The course will help you to learn to articulate your ideas visually, verbally and in writing, and is a valuable experience for the potential art school student, or any young artist looking for an expressive challenge.
This course takes place at the Westerly Education Center.
