Central to the design of a fashion line is the investigation of silhouette, pattern, and material that defines the establishment of style and provides the initial inspiration for a designer's collection. In this course we explore the possibilities of paper (in all its forms) as a prototyping medium, and how it translates to actual creation. You'll envision an apparel line, beginning with a mood board and fashion illustrations and ending with a maquette garment. Lessons in craftsmanship, visualization, pattern making, adhesion and fastening are included to give you a glimpse into the business of fashion design. Please bring a sketchbook; all other materials are supplied.
This course takes place at the Westerly Education Center.
