Your online course will follow one of two formats (listed below). Please be sure to check the instruction method for your course before the course start date:
Asynchronous: Asynchronous classes are fully online. This means discussions, course materials and assignments can be taken at any time of day, as they do not meet live. Our asynchronous classes have no live class sessions or set meeting times, and must be completed by the specified end date. Please note that some instructors will offer virtual office hours where video or telephone conversations will occur.
Synchronous: Synchronous classes meet at a scheduled time (Eastern Time), on the video conferencing platform Zoom, and you are required to be present online, live, at that time. Meeting schedules are listed in the section details. Additional course materials are hosted by Canvas, our learning management system.
Whether your course is asynchronous or synchronous, it will include video presentations, detailed tutorials and discussion forums. Assignments will be sequenced so that one leads to the next and will include project deadlines. Students receive individualized support for idea development and critique of work. To keep pace with the course, students should expect to log in regularly to Canvas, our learning management system.
When registering for a class on our website and registration system, you may be asked to provide your name, address, email address, birthdate, telephone number, credit card account information, as well as additional information. Your credit card information will be transmitted directly to a third-party company, via a secure connection, to process your credit card sale.
