Drawing Fundamentals I introduces the fundamental techniques, principles and concepts of drawing as a visual language. Through a combination of home studio practice, lectures, demonstrations and feedback, you will develop essential skills in observation, composition, line, form, value and texture. Emphasizing traditional and contemporary approaches to drawing, this course serves as a foundation for further exploration in the visual arts. You will build a vocabulary of drawing terms as well as practice drawing techniques. Demonstrated topics will include: accurately interpreting the world through the act of visual measurement, creating composition by interpreting a subject through shape, understanding and describing the illusion of light on form, and interpreting pattern and texture.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.
