Course Description

Artwork by Samantha S.

The storyboard is a series of illustrated panels that capture and convey key moments in a story. Storyboard artists have the important task of determining the look and feel of a story. They work in movies, animation, commercials and graphic novels. Working collaboratively with writers, directors and animators, they interpret a written script and visualize it in a storyboard. Learn how to identify key moments in a story. Then, render those moments in clear, stylized drawings. Develop your skills in depicting people and perspective drawing. With projects such as creating a comic page or presentation board, you’ll gain practical experience in this fun and engaging profession.

Learning outcomes for this investigation include:

  1. Communicate narratives through drawn frames.
  2. Illustrate action with clarity and style.
  3. Draw people, objects and perspective with accuracy.
