Course Description

RISD CE course in architectural visualization

How do you experience a space? Find the door and walk on in -- except if the environment is virtual. In this architectural simulation course the instructor introduces the 3ds Max interface and workflow used to create full-featured building interiors and exteriors. Students model furniture, windows, doors, ceilings and surfaces to make spaces more believable. Additional technology is part of the instruction as students use V-Ray materials and lighting to create physically accurate renderings. Animated element libraries turn visualizations into simulations. Techniques for rendering assets, including those found with SketchUp, AutoCAD and Revit (previous experience not required), are also discussed as students create more complex and aesthetically pleasing virtual reality compositions.
