Be seated, and explore the history of one of the most fundamental pieces in any home: the chair. Investigate the evolution of the chair, from an elegantly carved ancient Egyptian stool to the 18th-century masterpieces of Thomas Chippendale to the Modernist creations of Charles and Ray Eames. You'll learn about period style, forms, materials and construction, as well as the important symbolic associations of seating furniture through the ages.
