Course Description

Explore storytelling through the visual and performing arts! Each day of camp, students venture out of the classroom to seek inspiration and backdrops for their own imaginative stories. In the RISD Museum young artists learn how painters, sculptors and designers use their art to tell tales. In the Nature Lab they'll sketch animals like clever foxes and greedy pigs that have been featured in stories from around the globe. Students will look through the RISD Library's collection of pop-up books, illustrations and cartoons. And, right at RISD's doorstep, they'll draw the historic architecture and bridges of Providence's riverfront. After each adventure, they'll return to the classroom to create their own stories, through bookmaking, puppet-making, mask-making and more!
