Course Description

Design by Todd Free

Today's high-speed computer processors and graphics cards allow artists to create virtually anything within the digital world, and when these creations are composited over live-action footage, the results can be extremely lifelike and breathtaking. In this introductory course, students learn the principles, techniques and software used by 3D generalists and Hollywood VFX production studios to produce visual effects for motion pictures, television advertising and game development. This course provides fundamental skills for completing visual effects including 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, camera tracking and compositing, using industry-standard VFX software including SideFX Houdini, Substance Painter, Redshift renderer, and Adobe After Effects. Aspiring students complete the course with professional-level knowledge to map out and execute their own complex, visual effects concepts.
