Course Description

This workshop introduces students to linocut printing -- an accessible and fast relief-based process in which a block is made by carving away areas; the parts that remain are then inked, and the block is applied to paper. Through rubbing, the image is released onto the paper and a print results. Students are shown how to transfer a simple image to the block using simple inking methods. This is a versatile and portable approach to the printmaking medium and one that lends itself to working without a press.
