Where does one start when creating imaginary worlds? Concept artists work with ideas from sources like Harry Potter and World of Warcraft, and make the impossible appear real. Now it’s your turn to transform a description of a fantasy world into stunning visuals. Begin by creating a map to focus your vision of an imaginary realm. Then, expand upon your ideas by depicting environments using perspective drawing. Figure drawing principles will allow you to populate your world with convincing characters. Skills gained in this course are vital to a future in fields such as game design and animation.

 

Learner Outcomes

  • Translate written descriptions into maps and other concept art.
  • Apply various perspective drawing techniques.
  • Render characters with accurate anatomical understanding.

Prerequisites

Students must be 13-17 years of age.

Students are responsible for purchasing their own art supplies, equipment, software subscriptions, and/or books. For most classes, the cost is under $75 (estimate). A supply list will be available on the course site in Canvas at least 30 days prior to the first day of class.
