Course Description

The jewelry design process starts with sketches to translate discoveries in the world around us into forms of unique design. Get acquainted with model making and metalsmithing techniques with paper exercises and wire wrapping. Learn how to work with found objects, and see examples of contemporary jewelry design and ornamentation. Work with hand tools (jeweler’s saw, metal files, plyers) to create jewelry using cold connection methods. You’ll develop an eye and feel for the level of detail and precision required in jewelry making and wearability in terms of weight and scale. This course will establish the fundamental skills and tools necessary for jewelry making and includes live online classes and independent work.
