Course Description

The language of drawing is a simple and effective way to communicate visual ideas. This course focuses on developing hand-eye coordination, which is essential for perceptual drawing. Presentations and tutorials help you learn how to describe objects using size, angle and proportion. You will also explore how to use lines to describe form, using weight, direction and speed. Next, you will learn about value and how to use light and dark to create depth and space. With practice, you will tackle more complex subjects and make artistic decisions. The tools used in this course include pencil, charcoal, and eraser. Subjects include still life, architecture and a brief introduction to landscape.

This course can not be substituted for Drawing Fundamentals I or II.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.
