9399 - Art Appreciation: The Providence Art Scene

Course Description

In this art appreciation course, you'll learn to examine art critically and thoughtfully. Learn how to more deeply engage when visiting galleries, artists studios, museums and other cultural spaces, while discovering the vast resources of the art world around Greater Providence. Sessions will include discussions, talks from the instructor and site visits. These activities will deepen your understanding of visual arts, whether you're a beginner, an avid collector or a practicing artist. Join us to explore the local art scene and enhance your appreciation for artistic expression. Your first class will meet on RISD’s campus but other course meetings may take place at various locations in the Providence area. Locations will be discussed on your first day.

In-person courses cannot substitute for required certificate courses.
