In this adventure, we look to the tall trees, meandering meadows, and sunny skies of Tillinghast Place for inspiration. Campers will embark on nature walks and collect foraged materials to use in their art. They will also observe and examine the area’s insects, animals and plants.
Back in the studio, they will create art reflecting their observations and develop their drawing skills through scientific illustration. They will explore texture and form through printmaking, illustrate the life cycle of a plant or animal, and head outside with their paint brushes for plein air painting.
Notes
RISD Art Camp is a week-long day camp program for children 6-12 years old. Each day, campers celebrate their creative strengths while developing new artistic skills. Campers build their confidence, make new friends, and create imaginative works of art. RISD Art Camp is surprising, fun, carefully planned, and artfully coordinated.
Each Friday, families are invited to attend their campers’ art show to see the incredible art created that week.
RISD Art Camp organizes students by age group (6-8 and 9-12) during daily art activities. Studio activities and instruction are thoughtfully designed for each group’s age range and skill level. All ages can mingle during lunch, snack time, pick up and drop off.
Review important camp information including: what to bring each day; RISD CE policies; drop-off and pick-up instructions; authorized pick-up and emergency medical information; emergency contact; camper health and safety; protection of minors; RISD Public Safety; and Title IX.
