Course Description

This course focuses on using the printmaking processes as a drawing tool capable of dynamic and unexpected mark-making. You will begin with images that can be copied and then learn how to alter, combine and transform them into one-of-a-kind pieces. You will be introduced to techniques such as screenprinting, image transfer, relief carving and some digital approaches. Emphasis will also be placed on paper and other alternative, innovative and experimental printing substrates. Assignments and projects will focus on explorations of the physical layering and sculptural potentials of unique printed matter.
