Course Description

Sharpen your observational skills in this course focused on the human figure. Working from a live model, you’ll explore color, shape and gesture through the medium of acrylic paint. Through a mix of quick studies and extended poses, you’ll develop your understanding of anatomy, proportion and composition. Along the way, you’ll experiment with color, brushwork and layering techniques to bring your figures to life on the canvas.

Drawing inspiration from classical and contemporary approaches to figurative art, you’ll be encouraged to interpret the model through your own creative lens. This course is designed to help you see more clearly and express yourself more freely through acrylic paint. Previous painting experience is helpful but not required.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.

Necessary Supplies

Students are responsible for purchasing their own art supplies, equipment, and/or books. For most classes, the cost is under $125 (estimate). A supply list will be available on the course site in Canvas at least 30 days prior to the first day of class.
