Course Description

Fabric is an affordable and versatile medium that can transform into anything from a pillowcase to a soft sculpture. Its flexibility and lightness mean that it can be turned into nearly any shape with the right construction. Get started on understanding construction basics and sewing equipment. Learn different seams and stitches and how to avoid common problems like bunching and jamming. Begin by creating sewing samples and completing simple projects. Then, experiment with your new skills in a final project. While this course is for both non-fashion and fashion students, assignments focus on objects and accessories.

Plain cotton fabric will be provided. You may bring your own fabrics if you would like to use something else.
