Course Description

Mixed media is great for those looking to break out of creative ruts and add variety to their portfolio. It leads to eclectic, out-of-the-box artistic choices. Experimenting with materials instead of focusing on technique gives space for a more playful approach to making. Combine paint, drawing, and found materials for surprising results. Incorporate your strengths while exploring new materials and techniques in open-ended assignments. Projects will include both two-dimensional and three-dimensional approaches. 

Learner Outcomes

  • Test, combine, and recombine 2D and 3D media.
  • Consider how materials and how they’re used can add meaning to your work.  
  • Create works of art that are driven by curiosity and play.

Prerequisites

Students must be age 13–17 to participate.
