Course Description

A sketchbook isn’t just a place for collecting ideas but the foundation of your future as an artist.

Focusing on 2D fields like painting, drawing, printmaking, and illustration, this course centers on the sketchbook, a tool used for experimentation, planning, and process. The instructor acts as key figures, from creative director to advisor and mentor, guiding you through critique, revision, and portfolio building. You’ll take drafts from early sketches to refined pieces, shaped by weekly feedback and collaborative discussion.

Explore career paths in the visual arts, compare educational options, and identify personal goals. Guest speakers share perspectives on exhibiting work, building sustainable art-making practices, and finding your place in the creative landscape. Soon, your sketchbook will tell a story not just of your work but of where you’re going next.
