Course Description

Painting by Abigail Parsons

How do paintings tell stories? This course explores visual narratives—from ancient frescoes and expansive murals to contemporary comics and graphic storytelling. Using gouache, deepen your painting skills while experimenting with composition, color, scale, and mark-making to create dynamic, story-driven images. Alongside hands-on projects, study a wide range of storytelling traditions from across cultures and time periods, building a diverse visual archive to help inform your own creative work. Previous painting experience is helpful but not required.
