Course Description

Visually illustrating a story in sequence requires skills in story interpretation, character development, and visual pacing, all within an overall design layout that is appropriate for your audience. Three texts are presented as prompts for assignments to be developed from process sketches to storyboards to finished illustrations, or you may apply the assignments to your own text. Learn how to thoughtfully combine and personalize images and text for a young audience and how to successfully integrate both to develop a dummy book.

Note: Students interested in illustrating their own written work are strongly encouraged to take Children’s Book Writing first to workshop and edit their manuscripts.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.
