Course Description

Discover the tools and techniques needed to create stories that inspire and captivate young children. You'll explore the fundamental elements of storytelling in picture books, from crafting compelling characters to developing imaginative plotlines and dialogue. Drawing from classic and contemporary examples, you’ll gain insight into the unique characteristics of children’s literature and learn to tailor your writing to young audiences. In addition to developing these potent storytelling skills, you will leave this course with a draft manuscript that you may then go on to illustrate.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.
