Course Description

The classical approach to drawing the figure isn't limited to paper, pencil, and art supplies; you can employ these same techniques using a digital tablet and stylus. An exercise in drawing figures from online model resources and provided references, this course will explore how to capture the proportion, movement and expression of the human form. Through the use of software such as Photoshop and Procreate, you'll create digital sketches that could potentially evolve into character design, animation, fashion design and other creative applications.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.

Necessary Supplies

This course requires a digital drawing tablet such as a Wacom Intuos, Bamboo, or Cintiq creative tablets or equivalent. Alternatively, students can use an iPad w/ Apple pencil. Additionally, you can expect to spend up to $125 (estimate) on supplies, equipment, software subscriptions, and/or books for this course. A supply list will be available on the course site in Canvas at least 30 days prior to the first day of class.

Once you have received your enrollment confirmation and logged in to Canvas, navigate to Upcoming Courses on the left-hand side of your dashboard. Supplies will be listed on your course homepage under the supplies heading. Some or all of your course supplies are available at the RISD Store.
