Course Description

Despite its origins as a tool for archivists and journalists, the history of photography isn't concerned wholly with documenting the real. Photographers such as Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Joyce Tenneson, Joel-Peter Witkin and David LaChapelle have investigated the innermost world of our imaginations. In this two-part class, the instructor presents images by photographers whose ideas, subjects and treatments are representative of fantasy. The show will inspire and guide you toward creating your own photographs of manipulated reality that are then revealed for critique at the second meeting.
