Course Description

RISD CE Children's Book Illustration course

The relationship between words and pictures is crucial to the process of illustrating for children's books. This course provides a comprehensive exploration of this powerful dynamic and offers an opportunity to bring narrative-based visuals to fruition. Three texts are presented as prompts for assignments to be developed from sketches to finished illustrations. The emphasis is on developing your skills by way of interpretation and personalization. Through a series of guided online presentations and resources, that also includes an additional lesson on book covers, you will experience how to pair images with text for bringing your love of children’s books to life.
