Course Description

Success in the fashion industry is directly linked to a designer's ability to effectively illustrate. In this RIDE work-based learning course, a professional fashion illustrator will lead you through some of the same tasks used by designers in the field as you refine your personal style through drawing, from concept to completion. You’ll cover fashion-focused fundamental drawing skills, materials, and vocabulary; understanding the body, construction methods, and movement of the human figure for fashion design; technical drawing and garment rendering; and professionalism including portfolio development and job search strategies. Studio sessions will be supported by demos, videos, and slideshow presentations. Guest speakers will share skills, stories and perspectives about the industry. The course includes live online class sessions and independent work on assignments.
