Course Description

Colored pencil is a fun and easy medium that requires minimal studio setup. Like Dorothy stepping into Oz for the first time, this course is for students who have foundational skills in grayscale drawing and are ready to step into the world of color. Lessons will emphasize color theory concepts like value and saturation to add rhythm and unity to your drawings. In addition to color theory, there will be an emphasis on how to compose your drawings so you can focus the viewer's eye on what's most important. Along the way, discover how historical and contemporary artists use color theory and colored pencil to make their works stand out. While foundational drawing skills are encouraged, this course is open to students of all skill levels.
