Course Description

Artwork by Marcia Blanco

Drawing Fundamentals II will build on the aspects of drawing established in Drawing Fundamentals I through the exploration of a broader spectrum of subject matter. A combination of home studio practice, lectures, demonstrations and feedback will deepen your drawing practice while developing an essential understanding of the human figure and the use of perspective in drawing. An expanded list of vocabulary terms will explore the description of space and analysis of the human form. Demonstrated topics will include: accurately interpreting the figure through visual measurement, essential aspects of human anatomy, structural breakdown of the human form, figurative proportion, and the role of linear and atmospheric perspective in creating the illusion of space.
