Course Description

Explore the art of macramé, focusing on fundamental techniques and creative applications. You will learn the essential knots that form the building blocks of macramé and use your newfound skills to create beautiful and functional pieces such as wall hangings, plant hangers and more. Emphasis will be placed on controlling tension, achieving symmetry and balance in your designs to create visually pleasing and structurally sound pieces. You will experiment with various materials and patterns to develop your own unique style. 

By the end of the course, you will have developed the skills and confidence to create your own unique macramé pieces, making this course suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.

Necessary Supplies

Students are responsible for purchasing their own art supplies, equipment, software subscriptions, and/or books. For most classes, the cost is under $125 (estimate). A supply list will be available on the course site in Canvas at least 30 days prior to the first day of class. 

Once you have received your enrollment confirmation and logged in to Canvas, navigate to Upcoming Courses on the left-hand side of your dashboard. Supplies will be listed on your course homepage under the supplies heading. Some or all of your course supplies are available at the RISD Store.
