Course Description

Bridge the gap between your sketches and the physical world with fashion construction. Fashion construction is the art of transforming a sketch into a physical garment. Starting with basic garments, learn the essential techniques needed to bring your vision to life.

Gain hands-on experience with sewing machines and hand-sewing methods. Mold your fabric around the planes and curves of a dress form. Incorporate fasteners like zippers, buttons or clasps. Execute fabric layouts, cut fabric accurately and apply finishing techniques and seams. Each exercise will provide problem-solving skills to address challenges in creating wearable garments. These essential skills will set you up for a successful career in the fashion industry.

  • Identify and resolve issues related to translating fashion designs into functional, wearable pieces.
