Course Description

RISD CE course: Data Visualization

Our information-saturated society is awash in data, but how do you give it useful form? This course provides an answer to students who want to design clear, useful and informative visualizations. By tying visualization design to color theory, and an understanding of the human visual system, students learn how to inject data into visualization pipelines using a popular notebook approach to provide, and document, an explicit step-by-step process. Students learn through examples by visualization genre, and visualize their own data sets of interest, choosing from sets made available on popular online data repositories.
