9445 - New Approaches to Abstract Drawing

Course Description

In this course, we’ll explore a broad range of approaches to drawing that will challenge you to develop your own visual, pictorial language. Hands-on exercises are designed to stimulate experimentation with physical materials and to expand visual perception. We’ll use various methods to influence the outcomes, including drawing on flat paper, drawing in three dimensions, and creating forms using simple materials, which will serve as springboards from which to launch your work. Presentations, short writing exercises, discussions and critiques will also inform your drawings.
