Course Description

The cyanotype presents us with a simple yet thoughtful way of reproducing images from the natural world. Also known as blueprints or sun prints, cyanotype prints are created using a photographic process that uses ultraviolet light, or sun light. We will learn about the chemical process, create our own light-sensitive paper, and build a leaf and plant press. We’ll then walk around campus, gathering plants to add to our plant press and other fun objects for cyanotyping. We’ll place some of the prints into our photo books, and we might even try making an oversized print or two.

Prerequisites

Students must be age 9–12 to participate.
