Course Description

How does sound relate to contemporary art? Where does the term “sound art” come from? How do you begin to incorporate it into your creative projects? By exploring sound as a practice, students will survey various modes of sound composition for installation, recorded media, performance, and video. They will explore the context, history and theory of sound as an artistic practice while mastering basic recording, editing, arranging and processing techniques. Students will exit the course with experience editing and mixing sound for future time-based projects.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.
