3089 - Landscape Photography: River, Sea + Shore

Course Description

Scenic Southern New England is the perfect canvas for the landscape photographer in the summer season. This course introduces you to the area's waterways, beaches and marshes as both subject and classroom while engaging in weekly walks and ramblings. Together we review ways to engage subject matter, explore qualities of light, and cover topics to consider when creating unique and successful photographic representations. The first session is held on campus, where we will meet before venturing out for our first photo exercise. Subsequent sessions will be held on location at sites located within 30–40 miles of Providence. You will post your photographs weekly on Canvas for critique and comments. Bring a familiar camera, a sturdy tripod and wear comfortable shoes—as well as a sense of adventure, ready to engage with the natural world!
