Course Description

Capture the beauty of the beachside grounds of Tillinghast Place through the medium of oil paint. Focusing on landscape painting, you will learn essential techniques for translating the natural world onto canvas. Throughout the course, you will gain hands-on experience in painting outdoor scenes and studio-based landscapes. Emphasis will be placed on understanding how to capture natural light, simplifying complex space and depicting the various elements of a landscape, all while enjoying the inspiring surroundings of Tillinghast Place.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.

Necessary Supplies

Because this is an introductory course, you can expect to spend $200-300 (estimate) on supplies, but note that many of these will be used again as you take other courses in this area. A supply list will be available on the course site in Canvas at least 30 days prior to the first day of class. 

Once you have received your enrollment confirmation and logged in to Canvas, navigate to Upcoming Courses on the left-hand side of your dashboard. Supplies will be listed on your course homepage under the supplies heading. Some or all of your course supplies are available at the RISD Store.
