Course Description

Animated characters are often recognized for their snappy dialogue, colorful banter, and distinct wit. This course is perfect for aspiring voice actors, content creators, and performers who want to master the art of animated character voice acting. You will explore different approaches to performing across a variety of animation forms and genres such as cartoons, anime, video games, and motion graphics. Topics covered include voice control, character development, script interpretation, emotional delivery, timing, diction, microphone techniques, and recording fundamentals. You’ll gain an understanding of the complete voiceover workflow, from auditioning and recording to editing and delivering professional quality audio for animation projects.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.

Necessary Supplies

Students are responsible for purchasing their own art supplies, equipment, software subscriptions, and/or books. For most classes, the cost is under $125 (estimate). A supply list will be available on the course site in Canvas at least 30 days prior to the first day of class.

Once you have received your enrollment confirmation and logged in to Canvas, navigate to Upcoming Courses on the left-hand side of your dashboard. Supplies will be listed on your course homepage under the supplies heading. Some or all of your course supplies are available at the RISD Store.
