Course Description

RISD CE animation course

Explore the dynamic medium of animation with a presentation of the basic tools, core principles, history and current uses of the discipline. You will use digital tools to learn the mechanics of sequencing inanimate drawings so that they flow together into a single media experience. There will also be an overview of the first popular animation shorts and their reception in popular culture. Early animation studio workflows and animation basic concepts such as timing, cycles and exaggeration will also be covered. This background will form a foundation of knowledge that applies to character and object animation, and motion graphics. By the end of the course, you will understand how animation is produced, gain confidence in the basic skill set and apply the workflow of this popular artform. This course is perfect for beginner artists and more advanced students alike.

Prerequisites

Students must be an adult age 18 or older to participate.
