Course Description

Artwork by Deb Brudvig

In this course you will learn to combine rendering skills with color and compositional elements to create unified paintings. We will hone skills acquired in introductory painting courses, developing projects that include making thumbnails and color studies to develop effective compositional structures using oil paint. You will work from varied palettes to further your color knowledge and to understand its role in creating space. Context and composition are emphasized, as are cropping, editing, point of format, placement, edge and form in the construction of a painting.
