Course Description

Map making in Adobe Illustrator is a fast way to gain mastery of advanced features in the program, as well as an inspiring way to produce beautiful graphic designs suitable for your portfolio or commercial projects. With precise iconography, patterned borders, blended shapes, thoughtful text labels, and advanced coloring options with blend modes and texture fills, the map canvas becomes a showcase for precise aesthetic design and complex project management. Endlessly scalable and universally readable formats make the end results versatile for print, and the base vector medium ideal for fast digital transfer and future-proof screen resolution upgrades. Students will complete no fewer than three projects in this course, including a vintage map, a fictional subway map and a stylized city map.
